For most of a half century, I have heard politics discussed in terms of parties and personalities. "I vote a straight party line, because in every race and on every issue, my party is right! Harrrumph!!! "I vote for the best person for the job, regardless of party! Harrrumph!!!" "I vote for the candidate(s) who espouse(s) the identical ideology as I do on this particular issue or two, and if none of them do, I don't vote for any of them! Harrrumph!!!" What a bunch of idiots we have become. Our founders and forebears would be forlorn.
People, we have to start remembering and/or realizing that politics is not about perpetual parties and professional players within those parties. Politics is about principles. Principles with which a representative republic can be founded and fostered, built and bolstered and tested and triumphant! Those principles are the plain basic truths that we hold to be self-evident. That America is a country of concept as well as construction, based on the principled premise that every individual has the personal and private liberty and freedom to think, believe, say and do any and every thing he or she desires and imagines, so long as none of those thoughts, beliefs, words, or actions cause demonstrable loss and/or harm to another through force and/or fraud. America is where, and how, people can peaceably practice their talents and proffer their offerings in an open market, free enterprise capitalistic environment, wherein the government's primary, if not solitary function is to protect the people from loss and/or harm by force and/or fraud of another, particularly of the government itself. Simple, huh? And those simple principles have to be manifested into a platform, with each plank professing at the heart of that particular issue, a foundation in freedom. And it is the platform, plank by plank, that must be the consideration of every person. pundit, politician, and party in attempting to progress policy and programs that will most positively benefit America as a whole, as well as the parts of her sum.
Beginning with the next post, I will lay out a platform, perhaps the platform that could save America from the sovereign suicide that present platforms will only continue to hasten. I look forward to your consideration and comments.
